Is the MAHLE catalogue enough to find aftermarket MAHLE turbo parts?

Short answer: yes, for most standard replacements. The MAHLE catalogue lists OE and aftermarket part numbers for turbochargers, gaskets, oil lines, and related components. As of January 2025, the official MAHLE Aftermarket catalogue is still the first place I check—part numbers change, superseded numbers show up there, and it saves you from trusting a random listing that says “fits all” without proof.

But the catalogue isn't a substitute for a human who knows the difference between a turbo oil feed line and a coolant return line. I've seen customers order the right turbo part number but the wrong kit because they missed a note about VIN range. My rule: use the catalogue to narrow it down, then verify with one phone call if you're under a deadline.

One regret I still think about: in 2023, a rush order had to be redone because we trusted a screenshot of an old catalogue page. How do I use the NGK spark plug finder correctly?

That's the wrong question—you need both. “Water cooling” (coolant circulating through the block and radiator) does the heavy lifting. The fan doesn't cool the engine directly; it pulls air through the radiator when the car is stopped or moving slowly. Saying water cooling is better than fan is like saying fuel lines are better than air filters. They do different jobs.

On an aftermarket MAHLE turbo or any turbo setup, heat management matters even more. Turbos cook in the exhaust heat, and the oil/coolant lines protect the bearings and housing. If you're reading about “water cooling vs fan” because your engine's running hot, check coolant level, fan operation, and the radiator's airflow path before blaming the turbo.
